This Advent Season the children in Religious Education are filling up a manger with hay to prepare a comfy bed for baby Jesus's arrival on Christmas.
On each piece of straw the children have written and depicted their good deeds, because just as we are preparing this bed for Jesus, so too WE ALL ARE CALLED TO PREPARE OUR HEARTS FOR HIM TO DWELL IN US!
Also, the stable and starry sky were built in a collaborative effort by the children in Religious Ed.
The 6th, 7th, and 8th graders ripped up cardboard boxes, shredded paper, and turned a table into the stable.
Questions we discussed: Why was Jesus born in a stable? Why did God, the King of Kings, choose to be born in a stable?
The 4th and 5th graders decorated the sky with stars and the bright star of Bethlehem.
Questions we discussed: Who is the Light of the World? Why do we call Jesus the Light of the World?
The 2nd and 3rd graders were the first to fill the manger with their good deeds.
Question we discussed: How can we prepare ourselves for Jesus's coming?
The Kindergartens and 1st graders sang "To Bethlehem We Go" and were various animals in the stable.
